Our Staff

Wakatipu Medical Centre began in Frankton in 1996 on McBride St, a few doors along from where it is currently located. Dr Tom Milliken had an established practice in Queenstown in 1990 and relocated to Frankton. Dr Valerie Miller joined him in 2001 after being at Queenstown Medical Centre for 15 years. Dr Bart Vangronsvelt came on board as a partner in 2014,Dr Laura Brown in January 2017. Dr Fiona Rorrison in 2019. As we have expanded to our second site at lower Shotover Dr Jo Lett and Dr Kelly Weir have joined to give us additional capacity.

val_miller Val Miller (MB. ChB. Dip.Obs. FRNZCGP NZSIA)

Val is one of Queenstown's longest serving GPs having worked here since 1984 after qualifying from Auckland University. Val was initially involved in maternity services in Queenstown, and has since added general women's medicine, including the menopausal to her portfolio. Recently Val has added a postgraduate qualification in Travel Medicine. Val undertakes minor skin lesion removals under contract for Southern Health Board.

kelly_weir Kelly Weir (MB. ChB.)

Kelly came over to New Zealand just before COVID19 arrived in New Zealand. Coming from Canada with her husband Mitch they are hoping to explore their new surroundings and enjoy a new experience.

jo_lett Jo Lett (MBChB, PGDipRPHP)

Jo is originally from Glasgow, but made Invercargill her home for 10 years prior to moving towards the mountains in 2016. She is currently working towards her Fellowship in Rural Hospital Medicine and has a particular interest in general adult medicine.

bart_vangronsvelt Bart Vangronsvelt (MD)

Bart originates from Flanders in Belgium. After he first qualified as a nurse he worked with oncology and terminally ill patients. He then decided to become a phycician and in 2003 he graduated in Medicine from the Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He worked for 2 years in Internal Medicine with special interest in Hematology and Oncology. In 2009 he finished his further training for Family Medicine at the University of Maastricht.

Bart first came to NZ in 2011 where he worked in Waiuku until May 2012. After returning to the Netherlands Bart and his wife Conny quickly realized they wanted to return to NZ with Queenstown as an ideal location. Bart joined the practice in 2014 and is looking forward to make Queenstown the family home, for himself, Conny and their 2 young children.

laura_brown Laura Brown (MBChB, DCH, FRNZCGP)

Originally from Southland, Laura graduated from the University of Otago in 2005. She spent time working at Auckland City Hospital and Christchurch Public Hospital, completing a postgraduate diploma in Child Health in 2013.  
She joined the RNZCGP education programme in 2013, and became a fellow of the college in 2018. She moved to Queenstown in January 2017 with her husband and three young children.
She has a special interest in Child, Adolescent and Women’s Health.

fiona_rorrison Fiona Rorrison (MBChB, DCH, FRNZCGP)

Originally from Scotland, Fiona came over to New Zealand 30 years ago and settled in North Island. Fiona Joins us after working for many years in Hastings in Hawkes bay. She is a fellow of Royal New Zealand College of GPs.

lizzie_borowy Lizzie Borowy

Lizzie Borowy, originally from Southland, has joined WMC from Lakes District Hospital, after gaining experience in Australia and UK, primarily in A & E Care. Lizzie looks after our IV Aclasta programme, and is WMC's Diabetic nurse. Her special interest is Emergency care.

hannah_mawson Hannah Mawson

Hannah is originally from UK but has made Queenstown her home. Hannah started as a medical receptionist in UK then trained up to become a nurse. Ariving in Queenstown she worked at Lakes District Hospital initially then joined us in 2020.

lana_ennis Lana Ennis

Lana’s family have been Queenstown local since 1993. Lana studied a Bachelor of Nursing at Otago Polytechnic, Dunedin before moving to Australia where she nursed for nearly 4 years. Working in both Emergency and Intensive Care Units she completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Critical Care. Lana has spent the last year travelling abroad and has now returned home to Queenstown to settle.

olivia_kelly Olivia Kelly

Olivia is originally from Southland, completed her high school education at Wakatipu High in Queenstown, and moved on to Nursing School. She completed her nursing degree in 2015, and thereafter joined the team at Wakatipu Medical Centre. Olivia is enthusiastic and has a passion for Primary Health Care

anne_hailes Anne Hailes

Anne is a born and bred Southlander who has returned to New Zealand with her family after 18 years living internationally. Anne trained in Southland and completed a Dip Cert Cardiology, BScN & Post Grad in Health Management in Australia. Her areas of special interest include Cardiology, Travel Medicine and Primary Healthcare. Outside of work Anne loves to ski, bike and enjoy all the outdoor life that Queenstown has to offer.

caroline Caroline Coleman

Caroline, originally from Scotland, came to Queenstown in 2014. Caroline is settled now in Queenstown now with a young family. She has a background in Renal Nursing and Aged Care. She enjoys skiing and the outdoors.

fabi_da_silva_correa Fabi da Silva Correa

Fabi da Silva Correa comes from Brazil but has been living in Queenstown for over 10 years. She has a background in banking and hospitality. Fabi enjoys singing in her spare time and serving the community, and is an active member of the church.

heidi_ross Heidi Ross

Heidi comes from the state of Florida in the USA but has lived in Queenstown since 1995. She first visited Queenstown in 1972. She has worked in the medical field for over 35 years. She has a son Bob who now lives in Boston, Massachusetts, but graduated from Wakatipu High as well as University of Otago. Some of her favourite things to do are lap swimming, cooking, and long walks with her chocolate Labrador, Rufus. She enjoys meeting people and helping them however she can.

nicolet_tito Nic Tito

Nicolet has lived in Queenstown for 17 years, originally from Nelson NZ. She joined us from Lakes District Hospital having previously worked with Southern DHB, so has plenty of experience in NZ health system.

marnie_reid Marnie Reid

Many people know Marnie as she is born and bred in Queenstown, so has seen a few changes over the years. Previously Marnie worked at Dorothy Browns Cinema and Paperplus in the past but now enjoys her new role looking after the wellbeing of Wakatipu residents.

sharon_britton Sharon Britton

Sharon has lived in Queenstown for the 20years, raising 2 boys Campbell And Benjamin. She loves the lifestyle of Queenstown with lot of walking tracks and being so close to vineyards.

olivia_hanna Olivia Hanna

Olivia arrived in Queenstown 3 years ago, having a degree in Hospitality and has been working Internationally for the past 6 years.Originally from Mexico and very proud of her culture, She is fitting very well here with her joyful nature and love for people.. Olivia likes Queenstown for its lovely scenery and different activities such Hiking and paddle boarding.

phil_markham Phil Markham

Phil Markham is our dedicated Practice Manager who comes from the North of England. He has over 20 years experience managing medical companies and joined WMC in 2008 after spending 5 years organizing and running junior Football in Queenstown. Phil is also a qualified Pharmacist and occasionally you see him working at the local Pharmacies.

donovan_percy Donovan Percy

Donovan originally from South Africa, is a long standing resident of Queenstown. After completing his post graduate studies in Psychology, he changed direction and spent the rest of his career working in Senior Management for Corporate Business abroad and in New Zealand. He also has an overseas MBA from the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa and has a keen interest in Economics and Business Strategy. Donovan who loves music is also a first tenor, and a devoted family man.
