Wakatipu Medical Centre is a community based General Practice. We provide a comprehensive range of general practice services for the local population and pride ourselves in providing friendly informed consultations with the doctor of your choice. We also welcome casual patients and any visitors requiring medical services.
All applicants for immigration visas require a medical. These medicals take about 60 minutes to complete at the surgery, followed by blood tests and x-rays. Additional charges apply for these tests. We can supply a translation service for any Spanish or Portuguese speaking applicants.
Skin Moles and Lesions
All our doctors are experienced in assessing skin lesions and are fully qualified to perform most types of treatment e.g. liquid nitrogen, surgical excision. We also have a contract to provide minor surgery on behalf of the Southern District Health Board.
Wherever you wish to travel in the world we have the latest up to date advice and guidelines available. Yellow Fever, Hepatitis (A & B), Typhoid, Cholera, Malaria and Influenza protection are all easily available at Wakatipu Medical Centre.
Women's Health Services
Dr Val Miller has a postgraduate diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynaecology , is experienced in early maternity care and enjoy working with local midwives and specialist. Dr Miller also has a special interest and postgraduate training in all aspects of women's health.
Contraception, Sexual Health Advice
We have qualified nurses available to give advice on all matters of sexual health.
Available to all our patients we have qualified smoking cessation advisers on site. They can provide subsidised consultations and provide low cost Quit cards, patches or other cessation aids for those wishing to kick the habit.
All of the medical staff are active "recreational athletes" and have an interest in sports medicine. They liaise closely with local physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths and podiatrists - as well as specialist colleagues - to provide effective treatment of any sports injury.
Full Health Screening
Many serious health conditions are preventable and treatable if caught early. A full health screen can check for the vital signs and symptoms allowing early detection.
Medicals and Drug Testing
Worried about your staff? We regularly complete pre-employment medicals and drug tests. We can perform AS/NZS4308 compliant drug screening in confidence.
For all our registered children we run a full immunisation service, in accordance with National Immunisation guidelines. We offer the HPV vaccine, Gardasil, to all patients aged 9 to 26.
Aclasta Infusion is the osteoporosis treatment that works for a full year in just one dose. The infusion takes about 30 minutes and only needs to be repeated annually. The single dose increases your bone density, protecting and strengthening your bones for a whole year.
